We evaluated 13 frontier and open-weight large language models on multi-document Nepali–English news consolidation across 107 real story clusters. Claude Sonnet 4.6 won decisively, Gemma 4 31B at $0.0005 per call beat models 50× its price, and test-time reasoning surprised us in opposite directions on two otherwise-comparable models.
